BAHRAIN, June 27 (World Daily Times) — Bahrain said Iran launched drones into its territory on Saturday, prompting a swift wave of condemnations from Gulf governments that described the strike as a threat to regional security.

Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry called the attack a “flagrant threat” to the kingdom’s security. Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi called it “treacherous” and said it would undermine peace efforts.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said the strikes were “a dangerous undermining of endeavors for peace and stability” and a threat to the security and stability of the region. Saudi Arabia and Qatar also condemned the attack, saying it violated Bahrain’s sovereignty and international law, while the United Arab Emirates said it remained committed to supporting Bahrain’s safety and stability.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said on state-run television that it had targeted several locations “of the U.S. terrorist army in the region.” Fox News, citing The Associated Press, reported that no casualties or significant damage had been reported.

The New York Times reported that Gulf foreign ministers meeting in Bahrain earlier this month denounced Iranian assaults on Bahrain and Kuwait and called for an “immediate cessation” of hostilities.
