NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic is recalling electric toaster ovens sold at Amazon, Costco and other online platforms after U.S. regulators said a cord-insulation problem could create shock and fire hazards for customers.
The voluntary recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 units sold in the United States and Canada, including about 11,480 units in the U.S. and about 2,184 in Canada, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The agency said the ovens were sold online from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170.
The CPSC said the power cord insulation may be insufficient because a protective fiberglass sleeve may not fully cover the cord. The agency said it has received four consumer reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working, but no fires or injuries have been reported.
Panasonic Corporation of North America, which is identified in the recall notice as the importer, told Costco members in a separate letter that Costco records show some customers bought Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026. The company said affected customers may return the product directly to Panasonic for a refund or to a Costco warehouse customer service window for a full refund.
The Costco letter told customers to stop using the product immediately. The recalled ovens are stainless steel, with the Panasonic name on the front and the temperature knob on the bottom.
