WASHINGTON, June 25 (DC Times Online) — Visitors heading to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington will be able to book timed-entry tickets for the monument’s undercroft when it opens to the general public June 25, the National Park Service said.
The 15,000-square-foot exhibit area has been hidden since the memorial opened in 1922. The park service says the space will feature interactive exhibits and multimedia presentations about the memorial’s construction and its role in American history and civil rights.
Tickets are free, but advance reservations include a $1 service fee, according to the National Park Service. They can be booked through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777.
Same-day tickets will be distributed beginning at 8:45 a.m. at the Korean War Veterans Memorial kiosk on Daniel Chester French Drive, just south of the Lincoln Memorial. The project is funded in partnership with the National Park Foundation.
