Soccer match near the goal: players from both teams challenge for the ball as the keeper and defenders brace for a potential score; fans in the stands.

INGLEWOOD, Calif., June 26 (Our Los Angeles) — The United States men’s national team lost to Türkiye 3-2 in Los Angeles, but the result did not change its path in the tournament: the Americans had already clinched first place in Group D and will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 on July 1.

Türkiye won it with a late goal from Kaan Ayhan after the U.S. had twice pulled level. Auston Trusty and Sebastian Berhalter scored for the Americans, while Arda Güler and Barış Alper Yılmaz also scored for Türkiye.

The match was played at SoFi Stadium, and the official match report listed attendance at 70,492.

The defeat was the U.S. team’s first of the tournament after opening group play with wins over Paraguay and Australia.
