UNION, SOUTH CAROLINA, June 25 (Nationwide Times) — A Wendy’s in Union, South Carolina, is at the center of a food-tampering case after police said employees allegedly took a customer’s order from the trash, spat on it and served it back during a drive-thru dispute.

Union Police Department reporting cited by Audacy said the incident happened at the Wendy’s on North Duncan Bypass. Fox News reported the episode occurred in late May, though the outlets gave different dates for the alleged encounter.

According to the police account summarized in the reporting, a customer complained about her first meal and the order was remade before being handed back. The reporting said workers then allegedly took the food from the trash and spat on it before it was served again.

Fox News identified the employees charged in the case as Aaliyah Shuntai Sanders, Trinity Lashell Rice and Shadela Crystal Holley. The charge listed in the reporting was tampering with a human drug product or food item.

Audacy, citing police, reported that Sanders and Rice were arrested and that a third employee was disciplined by the restaurant for alleged involvement. Fox News reported the three suspects were arrested separately between June 16 and June 22.

Fox News also said the manager told investigators the employees involved were written up. The reporting did not identify the customer or say how the case was resolved.
